Why did Gucci choose a rookie Kpop idol as the new face of its beauty line? In an unprecedented move, Gucci has once again shattered norms by partnering with NewJeans’ Hanni, a testament to the unstoppable force of Kpop in the global fashion arena. This collaboration marks a significant moment, reflecting the extraordinary impact of Kpop idols on the international stage. With their debut barely in the rearview, NewJeans members have rapidly ascended to global ambassador status for some of the most prestigious fashion brands in the world. So, how did NewJeans capture the hearts of the fashion elite, and what does this mean for the future of fashion and music collaborations?
NewJeans Hanni: The New Face of Gucci Beauty
It is not every day you see a global fashion group collaborating with an artist who just made its recent debut. However, with Kpop culture, nothing can escape its skyrocketing value, even the fashion business. Over the last few years, Kpop has been making a grand statement with its global artists dominating the fashion industry as its global ambassador. Not only that, but the market value that these idols have brought to the fashion world has been so gigantic that it eventually beat Western celebrities.
With this incredible value and influence they bring to the market and community, global fashion brand Gucci has taken a brave step in collaborating with rookie Kpop idols for a second time.
On March 28, global brand Gucci announced to have collaborated with NewJeans Hanni for its beauty products. Gucci Beauty made an official statement on its social media accounts in the caption of Hanni’s photo.
“Hanni from NewJeans, who has been representing Gucci since 2022, is now a Global Brand Ambassador for Gucci Beauty, furthering her collaboration with the House.”

The Skyrocketing Influence of Kpop Rookie NewJeans in the Fashion Industry
This appointment marks the second collaboration between Gucci and Hanni. Before claiming the position as the brand ambassador for Gucci Beauty, the brand already appointed her as their fashion house ambassador in October 2022. Shockingly, it was only two months after Hanni officially debuted with her group, NewJeans, in August.
Not only that, but a few months after Hanni’s appointment as Gucci’s brand ambassador, Giorgio Armani chimed in, taking her as their own for Giorgio Armani Beauty.
Along with this move, many other fashion brands also invited other NewJeans members for ambassadorship. As a result, NewJeans members are now the official brand ambassador of many international fashion brands: Minji for Chanel, Danielle for Celine, Haerin for Dior, and Hyein for Louis Vuitton.
Indeed, many have been questioning why these global fashion houses were so eager to take these rookie artists as their brand ambassadors shortly after their debut. Yet, NewJeans has proven to offer massive global influence and trendsetting capabilities within the younger demographic. Their unique blend of Kpop’s vibrant energy, style, and global appeal resonates with a wide audience, making them ideal figures to connect with the youth market.
Moreover, their fashion-forward image aligns perfectly with luxury and mainstream brands looking to tap into the lucrative Kpop fanbase. Hence, it ensures widespread visibility and engagement across international markets.
With such impressive fashion influence, it is no wonder that NewJeans became the official ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week 2024.
